The idea for Seen IRL started on a long flight overseas.
Hours spent among strangers brought up a question: might someone else enjoy a conversation to pass the time? Knowing a little about the people nearby could make it easier to begin—something in common, or simply a reason to say hello.
The possibility extended far beyond that flight. Starting at a new school, showing up to a community gathering, or waiting in line. Everyday moments when people share a little time and space, but often leave without ever speaking.
Technology makes so many parts of our lives easier. Yet it can also leave us absorbed in our own worlds, even when we’re surrounded by people. What if it could help us feel a little less like strangers?
Seen IRL grew from a simple idea: knowing a little about someone can make saying hello feel more natural.
A shared interest. Something they’re doing today. A detail that gives you a place to start.
Seen IRL gives you a way to discover people nearby, learn a little about them, and start a conversation when it feels right. You choose what to share and whether to respond. If you both want to keep talking, you can become friends.
You don’t have to know where it will lead. Maybe it passes the time. Maybe you learn something unexpected. Maybe someone makes a new place feel a little more familiar.
A hello doesn’t need an agenda.
