Community Guidelines

Be honest, respect consent and boundaries, protect people’s privacy, and never use Seen to exploit, threaten, harass, deceive, or endanger someone.

Effective: August 30, 2026 · Last updated: September 6, 2026

The short version

Respect boundaries. Let people decide whether and how they interact. Don’t pressure someone or keep contacting them after they decline or stop responding.

Be authentic. Represent yourself honestly. Don’t impersonate others, scam people, or send spam.

Protect privacy. Don’t share someone’s personal information, private conversations, photos, or location without their permission.

Look out for each other. Don’t harass, threaten, or exploit anyone. Report harmful behavior, and use blocking when you need to end contact.

If a situation feels unsafe

Leave, block, report, and contact local emergency services when needed. Seen IRL is not an emergency service.

Why These Guidelines Exist

Seen helps people connect around real-world moments. That works only when people feel respected and in control. These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not allowed and how we may respond when conduct puts people or the community at risk.

These Guidelines apply to profiles, usernames, photos, stories, statuses, messages, connection requests, reports, and other activity on Seen. They can also apply to harmful off-platform or in-person conduct when it arises from a Seen interaction or presents a credible risk to Seen users. They are part of the Terms of Use.

1. Respect Consent and Boundaries

Every person controls whether and how they interact. Do not:

2. Do Not Threaten Safety or Facilitate Harm

Seen does not allow content or conduct that creates a credible risk of physical or serious emotional harm, including:

If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Seen cannot provide emergency assistance or guarantee that a report will be reviewed in real time.

3. Child Safety: Zero Tolerance

Seen is for people age 16 and older. Child sexual abuse and exploitation are strictly prohibited. Never use Seen to:

Do not download, save, resend, or comment on suspected CSAM. Report it through Seen or email support@seenirl.com. We may preserve and report apparent child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, law enforcement, or other authorities as required or permitted by law. Parents and guardians may report an underage account or safety concern through Seen Support.

4. Sexual Content and Intimate Privacy

Do not post, request, or distribute:

Context matters for limited non-explicit educational, health, artistic, or advocacy content, but Seen may remove material that is unsuitable for a nearby social service or creates safety risk.

5. No Hate or Dehumanization

Do not attack, demean, exclude, or promote violence against people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious disease, age, or immigration status. Slurs, dehumanizing comparisons, praise for hate groups, and calls for segregation or exclusion are prohibited. Discussion, counterspeech, education, and reporting about hate may be allowed when the context is clear and does not target people for abuse.

6. Be Authentic; Do Not Scam or Manipulate

7. Protect Privacy and Personal Information

Do not share or solicit sensitive information without a lawful reason and the person’s permission, including:

A public profile choice does not give others permission to track, aggregate, republish, or misuse that information.

8. Share Only Content You Have the Right to Use

Post only content you created or have permission to use. Respect copyright, trademarks, publicity rights, confidentiality, and other legal rights. Do not present edited, synthetic, or AI-generated media in a materially deceptive way when it could affect someone’s safety, reputation, or decisions. Rights holders may contact support@seenirl.com with a detailed complaint.

9. Keep the Service Secure and Usable

10. Reporting and Blocking

Report

You can report a person from their profile or conversation. Reports may include relevant account, content, and conversation information so we can review the concern. If you cannot report in the app, email support@seenirl.com with the subject “Safety report” and include only the information needed to investigate.

Block

Blocking separates accounts so they cannot message or see each other through nearby discovery. Blocking is a personal safety control; it does not automatically create a report. If the conduct may violate these Guidelines, report it as well.

Use reporting responsibly

Do not knowingly submit false, duplicative, retaliatory, or coordinated reports. A report does not guarantee a particular outcome, and we may be unable to share details about another account or an investigation.

11. How We Enforce These Guidelines

We may use reports, account signals, relevant content, and automated or human review to evaluate possible violations. Depending on severity, context, credible evidence, and history, we may:

We may act immediately and without prior warning in serious cases. Enforcement does not have to be progressive or identical in every situation. To ask about an action on your account, contact support@seenirl.com. We may limit what we disclose to protect users, reporters, investigations, legal obligations, and safety systems.

12. Safer Real-World Connections

13. Changes and Contact

We may update these Guidelines as Seen, community risks, and legal requirements change. We will update the date at the top and provide additional notice when appropriate. Questions, safety concerns, underage-user reports, and child-safety concerns may be sent to Seen IRL LLC at support@seenirl.com.
